Laurie Miller
Vice President of Finance and Administration
As the Vice President of Finance and Administration of Star Service – Mobile, AL, Laurie Miller oversees all accounting and financial reporting activities. Her role encompasses monthly financial reporting, as well as the management of daily accounting functions and treasury management. Additionally, she ensures insurance and bonding matters are well-handled, oversees Team Member benefits, and collaborates closely with partner management on various budget, financial, and administrative items.
Laurie takes great pride in her work, which has garnered her recognition among colleagues, including earning the prestigious Circle of Excellence Award, acknowledging her positive attitude and significant contributions to the company. One of her key achievements has been maintaining a minimal Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), which has significantly enhanced cash flow for operations, leading to company recognition for working capital two years running.
With 30 years of industry experience, and over 26 years specifically in the construction sector, Laurie brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. Before joining Star Service in 2005, she served as the Controller for a large General construction company, where she successfully managed the conversion to a new accounting software system, along with the financial reporting responsibilities.
Laurie’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Alabama. Outside of work, she is a proud mother of two adult children and a wonderful son-in-law, all of whom are professionals and share her strong connection to the outdoors. Together, they enjoy a range of outdoor activities, including camping and white-water rafting. She is actively involved in volunteering within her church and has served on the Board of Directors for the Child Day Care Association of Mobile.
